I'm not quite sure how to do this, so I guess I'll just start.
I just finished reading "Play Me Backwards" and I wanted to say how much I really, really love this book. I love each of the characters, their personalities, how they interact, and how they react not only to major events, but also in normal conversation. I love each memory/backstory, each setting/place, every joke, and every resurfacing theme (if that's what you'd call them?). I love the syntax and how real and honest the storytelling seems. And of course, I love the cover and general formatting, such as with page numbers and chapter titles.

I almost never read fiction, but the cover for this piqued my interest when I was volunteering in the library. I just really loved everything about this book so much and thought I should say something! I'll definitely make sure to try to check out some of your other works! Thank you!tagsradbloggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09230140818409796577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13532619.post-35801730696462130382017-07-07T20:37:02.958-07:002017-07-07T20:37:02.958-07:00Thanks, T! Your thorough research and cross referencing reminds me of one of my favorite authors, Mary Roach, who resists the urge to retell the same juicy, unsourced story everybody else does. Your treatment of Holmes is really eye opening. I was taken in by all the sensationalized documentaries and that episode of Arch Oboler's Lights Out. Now I know better and am grateful to you for the enlightenment. Thanks for all the hard work. Now find another sensationalized media flap of the 19th century and give it the same treatment. First, in a late 1950s LP in which Pete Smith interviewed a number of celebrities including Groucho, Danny Thomas, Bob Hope, Ethel Merman and many others, Groucho referred to the YBYL show in question and adopted that philosophy of choosing to be happy as his own. The sentiment can also be found in one of Groucho's last books, a book on the quiz show, entitled The Secret Word is Groucho, published in 1976. True, Groucho himself never said those exact words, and that point has been shown to be the case, but there is material that he expressly adopted that philosophy as his own. For those who say that they can't imagine Groucho saying or thinking words or sentiment of that kind, well, they neither met the man nor have read widely on him, especially as respects his latter years.Dr Ian Ellis-Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13158091959759426208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13532619.post-33027478763357759712015-08-26T18:00:23.852-07:002015-08-26T18:00:23.852-07:00Interesting. The whole episode with the USPS putting a misattributed quote on the Maya Angelou stamp ought to be a cautionary tale for us all. In that case there were already books in print mistakenly attributing the quotation to Angelou, when it was really a rewording of a line by Joan Walsh Anglund.

That's a great story about the zombie novel, by the way.Cate Hagmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12394961760978944202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13532619.post-27190304728275425242015-02-22T07:56:04.804-08:002015-02-22T07:56:04.804-08:00Good on you.
